Make fun of gay people. Confuse the blind. Laugh at how silly deaf and mute people talk. Insult the poor and needy. Avoid people with disabilities.
It’s easy to laugh at other people especially when they are different. Media has established a stereotype for how a normal and acceptable person should be..beautiful, handsome, perfect..well, physically, that is. As a result, whenever “normal” people see someone who looks different, there is a tendency to laugh, insult, wonder, and avoid. Sometimes, people would ask “Why would God create such a hideous creature?”. Then they formulated their own answers “Maybe they are cursed” or “Maybe their mothers craved for something odd while pregnant with them”.
It is important that we understand who created the blind, deaf, mute, cross-eyed, as well as those who are gay, deformed, and poor.
The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? — Exodus 4:11
How could you say you love God if you can’t accept His creations? God is the creator of all living things on this earth, even those who are not “normal” according to human standards. We have no right to question why He made them that way. His wisdom is far too great for us to grasp, no matter how educated or wise we think we are. He has a reason why He created them and we have no right whatsoever to insult His creations.
Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker,
but he who is generous to the needy honors him. — Proverbs 14:31
This verse applies to every person that God created. Whoever oppresses anyone, especially those who are merely physically different from us, is also insulting the One who created him. Think about it this way: If you made something, say a cake, and it is not aesthetically pleasing as one would expect a cake to be, there is a tendency that people would laugh at it or even feel disgusted about it. How would you feel?
Learning to accept things that are not “normal” based on the stereotypes created by advertisements and superficial people is quite difficult. But if you understand the fact that the same God who created you also created them, it would be easier to accept them. If you believe that He made them that way for a reason, one of which we have no right to question or even know, it would be easier to love them as they are. With God’s help, let us learn to accept and love unconditionally, so we may be accepted by God in return.
Thanks be to God for ALL His creations!
It’s difficult to find real people nowadays. What you see or what they show you can be very deceiving. There are instances when you are faced with such a pleasant sight that, if you let yourself get swayed, you could easily be fooled into doing anything, even bad things. It’s sad that there are a lot of wicked people who hide behind beautiful and crisply-ironed clothing. People who, despite of dousing themselves with expensive perfume, still reek of unpleasant thoughts. It is quite common to see pretty houses and large mansions occupied by people who think they are higher types of humans compared to those who barely have a home. Pardon the harsh words but these are too prevalent to ignore.
More often than not, these people are very sensitive and very mindful of what people would say about them. They insult and poke fun at others but are sour losers when the tables turn. They get affected when their words or actions are critique, even though they admit its truth. Irony? Looks like it.
The truth is what everyone wants and deserve. To a person of God, the truth is always welcome, no matter how hurtful it may be.
In truth, there is no deceit, uncleanness, and guile!
(1 Thessalonians 2:3-5) For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness; God is witness…
However, a fool would never accept the truth, unless it is in favor of him.
The paradox is: understandable truth, plain and simple, is not being treasured by a fool.
So, if you tell someone the truth, even with the cleanest and purest of intentions, it could be received with hatred and anger. They would then shed their beautiful mask and reveal the ugliness of their hearts.
(Galatians 4:16) Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
Our eyes are meant to see, but only things that are tangible. In finding real and sincere people, a good heart sees better. It is important to specify that a GOOD heart has better eyesight because it looks at the brighter side of all things and excuses the forgivable imperfections. A bad heart, on the other hand, finds fault even in the kindest of deeds. It seeks the wrong in right, the lies in truth.
Real people still exist, and if we maintain a good heart with God’s help and mercy, we would easily recognize them.
Thanks be to God..
Of all the things that could harm the health of a person, cigarettes are one of the easiest to get away with. It is cheap, not illegal, and it can be consumed even in public. Unfortunately, it is one of the leading causes of so many diseases nowadays. Although the price of a stick has already been doubled in an effort to minimize smoking, this is not enough to keep a smoker from sacrificing hard-earned money for a puff. The label on each pack that says “Smoking is dangerous to your health” has even been changed to more urgent warnings like “Smoking kills”. The message is as blunt as a slap on the face, but to a nicotine-addicted individual, it is nothing but a friendly advice.
There are people who want to quit, but find it very difficult to do so. Withdrawal symptoms can be very overpowering that they drive people back to smoking again. There are a variety of methods being made available to help smokers quit. Some are effective yet just for a short time, especially for those who revert back to smoking due to problems. In such instances, it is crucial to find a more effective method to get rid of the cancer-inducing habit. Fortunately, there is one.
Step 1: Understand one’s purpose on earth.
People were created by God to do good so it is important to have a healthy body in order to be effective in doing so. If people realize this, it would help create a thought that smoking would hinder them from fulfilling their purpose.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. (Romans 6:13)
Step 2: Seek God’s help.
Nothing can be done without God, not even a single blink of an eye. In times of need, there is no one more reliable than the Creator. He is always ready to receive anyone who wants to get out of their wrongdoings and bad habits. The complete renewal process can not be successful without His intervention.
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kepget back tot them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts…(Malachi 3:7)
O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. (Jeremiah 10:23)
Step 3: Let God be the center of our lives.
It is easy to get swayed back into smoking especially if problems star pouring in and causes depression. Trusting that God is bigger and far greater than anything in this world will guarantee that any obstacle or hindrance, even hard-to-treat depression, can be overcome.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
With all these kept in mind and heart, there would be no need nor desire to get back to old habits. One can be assured of a smoke-free, nicotine-free, and guilt-free existence as instruments of God’s righteousness.
Thanks be to God!
“Life is short.”
“Live life to the fullest.”
There are many quotes about life. People mention each too often that they start to believe it and adapt it. I, myself, used to believe that life is just this: exist on earth, doing what you have to do to survive, live until you are old, and then die. I grew up surrounded by the thought that each person is meant to go to school in order to be qualified for a job. I remember how my mom would suggest rather forcefully about how Accountancy and Commerce are the best college options out there (she worked in the Bureau of Internal Revenue, that’s why). It was nice of her to invite my siblings and I to her world, but it wasn’t the kind of career we were interested in (we were all passionate about music, art, and crafts…the opposite of any corporate industry). I dreaded the future. The fact that I would never be interested in college made me wonder “Does this mean I would never fulfill my purpose in this so-called life?”. Soon, my songs involved lines like:
…do you ever wonder what your existence really means?…
…i’m nothing but a stain on the wall…
…i guess i’m better off dead…
To listeners, they were just songs. But these lyrics were fueled by my thoughts, my fears, my lack of understanding.
So, what is the meaning of life..really?
“The dictionary defines life as the physical existence of humans and other living organisms. This is not the truth (the whole truth)!
The biblical answer is: life is the cause of existence of everything there is; and the purpose by which it was made to exist.
The life we have now on earth is both temporal and eternal. Our physical being will cease to exist when the spirit that sustains physical life leaves the body.”
I have searched for answers almost everywhere, but failed to inquire the bible. The meaning of life, as stated above, satisfies my need for a complete definition. I do not exist merely for myself or any dependent that I may have. I do not exist merely to study and work and be effective and efficient at both. I do not exist merely to do what I want. I was put into existence to fulfill one important duty: fear God and please Him by following all of His commandments.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 12:13)
I used to believe that life is short. Well, we don’t really know how short or long our existence would be, but assuming that it is short, I thought that the right thing to do is experience everything I could ever experience in order to live a full life. Unfortunately, most of the things I had in my mental list of must-do-before-I-die involved doing stuff that either do bad things to my body or do nothing significant at all. With all the wasted time and energy on non-sensical things, how could one say that these would help you “live life to the fullest”?
“A life spent for the purpose by which it was meant for is a meaningful life. A life must be lived and be given willingly by somebody who understands its purpose. God gave us life for us to spend in service to Him, with our entire being and faculties.”
Now that I have discovered my purpose, I would never again perceive my existence as a mistake nor a meaningless one. Upon learning such valuable lessons from the word of God in the bible, I have never felt so content and full of purpose as I do now. Thanks be to God!
